George started his art career at the age of 9 by drawing with pastel, charcoal, and pencil. By the age of 12, he received his first art award for a Humane Society poster. In high school he studied graphic arts, oil painting, photography, letterpress printing, woodworking and architectural design.
After serving his time in the Navy, George obtained a BS Degree in Architecture. His interests in art led him to additional college studies in acrylic painting, intaglio, etching, ceramics, and multi-media sculpture. These studies culminated in a BA in Sculpture. He found three dimensional design to be most challenging and most satisfying. After enjoying a career as a San Francisco Bay Area Architect, he is now retired and living in the Sierras.
George has found satisfaction in working with gourds, woodworking, acrylic painting and creating collages. His current passion is creating masks from gourds. Aside from other awards, he received First Place for one of his gourd masks in the annual Mother Lode Art Association juried show of 2008.
